Los Angeles Galaxy defender Omar Gonzalez will miss Saturday's Major League Soccer road trip to the New England Revolution after a video review of a foul call in a previous game became his fifth accumulated yellow card, forcing an automatic one-game suspension.
The fifth yellow card in question was issued in the 84th minute of a 1-0 Galaxy loss to the defending MLS champion Real Salt Lake June 9, but was originally issued to defender Todd Dunivant.
After MLS asked the US Soccer Federation, the sports' governing body in this country, to review the video of the incident, it was determined Gonzalez was at fault and the call was officially reversed.
Gonzalez can return for the Galaxy at their July 22 home game at The Home Depot Center against the San Jose Earthquakes.
