Givens Penalty Kick Puts Bucks Over Fire

Stewart Givens' penalty kick goal in the 70th minut was the game-winner as the host Michigan Bucks edged the Chicago Fire 2-1 Saturday in USL Premier Development League play at Ultimate Soccer Arenas in Pontiac, MI.

Stefan St. Louis gave the Bucks the opening lead in the 19th minute off an Alex Morisset assist, but Chicago countered two minutes later with an unassisted point by Kirk Urso.

The Bucks, at 8-3-2 with 26 points and in second place in a tight Eastern Conference - Great Lakes Division race, is three points behind Forest City London (8-1-4, 28) for sole possession of the division lead. Michigan hosts the Toronto Lynx Thursday.

Chicago is 7-4-2 with 23 points and tied for fourth place with the expansion Dayton Dutch Lions (6-2-5), who are playing their only season in the PDL before joining USL Second Division next season. Both teams are four points behind the Bucks for sole possession of second place in the division and six behind London for the division title. The Fire host the Indiana Invaders Tuesday.
