Flash To Face Whitecaps For W-League Championship Saturday In Santa Clarita, CA

The Buffalo Flash will face the Vancouver Whitecaps for the 2010 USL W-League Championship Saturday at Harry Welch Stadium in Santa Clarita, CA after winning their semifinal matchups Thursday.

In the first game, Kelly Parker was assisted by Veronica Bouquete on goals in the 53rd and 81st minute as the Flash defeated the Atlanta Silverbacks 3-1. Jenny Hammon opened the scoring for Buffalo with an unassisted 18th minute goal.

Atlanta's lone goal came in the 36th minute off Bailey Powell.

In the second game, Kaylyn Kyle had an unassisted goal in the fourth minute and assisted Martina Franks on a 13th minute goal as the Whitecaps stunned the 2009 and 2010 league regular season champion Hudson Valley Quickstrike Lady Blues 3-1.

Melanie Booth scored off a Julie Armstrong assist in the 76th minute to up the lead to 3-0 before Alicia Tirelli assisted Gabriela Demoner on Hudson Valley's only goal in the 85th minute.

The Silverbacks and Lady Blues will face off Saturday in the consolation game at 3:30 p.m. Eastern time, followed by the 2010 USL W-League Championship Game at 7 p.m. Eastern.
