Behind goals by Jorge Herrera and Chris Lemons, the Charlotte Eagles defeated the host Pittsburgh Riverhounds 2-1 at Chartiers Valley High School in a USL Second Division game Friday night.
Gustavo Bentos assisted Herrera on his 58th minute goal and Ramy Safi did the same for Lemons in the 85th minute.
Adam Gazda scored the Riverhounds' lone goal in the 90th minute.
The Eagles are in third place in the division at 5-5-3 with 18 points, two points behind the defending champion Richmond Kickers (5-3-4, 19) to take over second place and six back of the league-leading Charleston Battery (7-2-3, 24). Charlotte travels Saturday to face the Harrisburg City Islanders at Skyline Sports Complex.
The Riverhounds are tied for fourth place with the Real Maryland Monarchs, each sporting records of 3-4-5 with 14 points. Piitsburgh will host the Kickers July 15.
