Dynamo Dump Landin, Spencer; Sign Obodai

Major League Soccer's Houston Dynamo announced a number of changes Tuesday to their team, including the release of forward Luis Landin and assistant coach John Spencer, and the future signing Thursday of midfielder Anthony Obodai.

Landin, who came to the Dynamo on loan from Morelia of Mexico's Primera Division in August 2009 as their first Designated Player became a designated bust after only scoring two goals and three assists in 20 games.

Obodai, who earned a two-week trial previously with the team, played against the Laredo Heat of the USL Premier Development League and CD Aguila of Mexico's Primera Division during the Dynamo Charities Cup exhibition matches.

He has played the last 10 seasons in Holland, lastly for RKC Wallwijk but will join the Dynamo when the international transfer window opens Thursday.

Spencer, a native of Scotland who played four seasons for the Colorado Rapids and served as an assistant coach at Houston since 2006, has been absent from recent practices, leading to reports from players he is looking to gain a coaching position with the Portland Timbers, who will join MLS next season after years playing in the USL First Division and, this season, in the USSF Division 2 Pro League.

He led the team's reserves to Major League Soccer's last Reserve Division championship title in 2008.
