Defending MLS Champs Play To Draw Against Chivas At Rio Tinto

A four-minute span of time saw both goals scored as defending Major League Soccer champion Real Salt Lake played Chivas USA to a 1-1 draw Saturday at Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy, UT.

Ned Grabavoy scored first for Real in the 67th minute, but his goal was matched by Chivas' Jose Padilla in the 71st minute, two minutes after he reported to the game as a substitute.

Salt Lake is 9-4-4 with 31 points and is in second place in the Western Conference standings. They will host DC United next Saturday.

Chivas remains mired in last place in the conference race at 4-9-3 with 15 points. The Goats welcome the Eastern Conference-leading Columbus Crew to town next Saturday.
