Danso Game-Winner Gives Portland First Victory In Vancouver Since 2004

Mamadou Danso's goal in the 72nd minute served as the game-winner as the Portland Timbers shut out the Vancouver Whitecaps 1-0 in USSF Division 2 Pro League play at Swangard Stadium to earn their first win in the British Columbian city since 2004.

After a scoreless first half, Niza Khalfan gave Vancouver their lone lead in the 51st minute befre Ryan Pore's 67th minute shot hit the back of the net to tie the game.

The Whitecaps remain the top team in the NASL Conference standings at 7-3-8 with 29 points and will host the NSC Minnesota Stars Sunday.

Portland, at 7-5-5 with 26 points, is in third place in the USL Conference and will travel next Wednesday to AC St. Louis.
