Major League Soccer's Chivas USA announced the signing of Mexican midfielder Rodolfo Espinosa to a contract Wednesday.
Espinosa, who played 36 games last season for Universitario in Peru and scored five gears, will debut with Chivas Thursday when they play Puebla FC of Mexico in Group A pool play at the 2010 SuperLiga tournment.
He played six seasons in Mexico's Primera Division with Nexaca (2002-08), but was loaned twice in his time there -- to Atlante in 2006-07 and to Chiapas in 2008-09.
At Nexaca, he had eight goals in 78 career appearances.
Espinosa also played for Mexico's U-20 and U-23 national teams.
