Chivas USA Cuts Macotelo, Santos

Major League Soccer's Chivas USA announced the release Wednesday of midfielder Jose Macotelo and forward Maicon Santos, both who have done little with their time on the team.

Macotelo, who joined Chivas April 30 on loan from Puntarenas FC in Costa Rica, made three appearances for the Red & White as a substitute, but scored no points.

Santos scored a game-tying goal in the 76th minute of their May 1 game against the Chicago Fire as one of nine appearances he made this season, three of them as a starter.

In 2009, Santos started two games of the SuperClasico series with the Los Angeles Galaxy, scoring a combined two goals and an assist. He appeared in 12 overall games that season.
