History was made Tuesday for Major League Soccer's Chivas USA as, for the first time in 12 games, they defeated the former two-time, back-to-back MLS champion Houston Dynamo at Robertson Stadium 3-1 in a quarterfinal matchup for the 2010 Lamar Hunt US Open Cup tournament.
Justin Braun was assisted by Mariano Trujillo in the fifth minute, then had a unassisted goal in the final minute of play, and Ante Jazic teamed with Michael Lahoud on a 65th minute goal in the victory that sends Chivas into a semifinal appearance September 1 with the winner of Wednesday's quarterfinal match between MLS' Los Angeles Galaxy and Seattle Sounders at The Home Depot Center in Carson, CA.
If the Galaxy wins, Chivas will host them at THDC, where the Goats also call home. If the Sounders win, Seattle will host the game at Starfire Sports Complex in Tukwila, WA.
Both Chivas and Houston return to MLS play Saturday -- Chivas traveling to the Kansas City Wizards, Houston hosting the Columbus Crew.
