Buddle, Donovan Serve Up Tie Between Galaxy, Earthquakes

Edson Buddle scored his Major League Soccer-leading 12th goal of the season in the 50th minute and Landon Donovan assisted on the goal and scored a game-tying shot in the final minute of regulation play as the Los Angeles Galaxy played the visiting San Jose Earthquakes to a 2-2 draw Thursday at The Home Depot Center in Carson, CA.

San Jose took the lead in the second minute when Bobby Convey, who was named Thursday as an emergency player to replace Chivas USA defender Jonathan Bornstein in next Wednesday's MLS All-Star Game in Houston against Manchester United of the English Premier League, fired off a shot that eventually became the halftime lead.

Brandon McDonald put the Earthquakes on top in the the 72nd minute with an unassisted goal, but the Galaxy got the last goal to force each team to take a point in the standings.

The Galaxy remain the best team in MLS and the Western Conference at 12-2-4 with 40 points and will host the Chicago Fire August 1.

San Jose, at 6-4-5 with 23 points and in fourth place in the Western Conference, hosts the Seattle Sounders next Saturday at Buck Shaw Stadium at the University of Santa Clara.
