The Boston Breakers extended their Women's Professional Soccer winning streak to three games Sunday as they edged the Washington Freedom 2-1 at Harvard Stadium.
After Washington took the opening lead in the second minute as Sarah Huffman fed a pass to Nikki Marshall for their lone goal, Liz Bogus tied the game at 1-all in the 23rd minute, thanks to a feed from Kelly Smith.
The game-winner came for Boston in the 74th minute when Lindsay Tarpley assisted Jordan Angell for a goal.
The Breakers, despite the winning streak, are in sixth place in the league standings at 4-5-4 with 16 points.
The Freedom (4-5-5, 17) are tied for fourth place in the standings with the Chicago Red Stars, who hold a similar record.
Both teams face the regular-season-leading FC Gold Pride in their next match -- Boston hosts them Wednesday, Washington Saturday.
