By way of his team earning 33 of a possible 42 points, as of June 27, Los Angeles Galaxy head coach Bruce Arena was named Tuesday as head coach of the Major League Soccer All-Stars when they face Manchester United of the English Premier League July 28 at Reliant Stadium in Houston.
Arena previously coached the MLS All-Stars in 1997 and 1998 and coached against them in 2002 when the All-Stars played the US Men's National Team.
Houston Dynamo head coach Dominic Kinnear was named Arena's assistant coach for the game Tuesday, but he will lead the team for one day July 27 when the Galaxy face the Puerto Rico Islanders of the USSF Division 2 Pro League in 2010-11 CONCACAF Champions League pool play.
Fan voting for the starting 11 players in the game ends July 6, with the starters to be named July 13.
Arena and Kinnear will then choose five reserve players and MLS commissioner Don Garber will select two players for a total of 18 on the roster.
