Barnhart Gets Starting Nod In WPS All-Star Game After Bardsley Injury

In a late change to the lineup for Marta's XI in Wednesday's Women's Professional Soccer All-Star Game presented by the US Coast Guard Reserve at Kennesaw State University Stadium, starting goalkeeper Karen Bardsley of defending league champion Sky Blue FC injured her clavicle Tuesday in a collision while challenging a corsse ball in a 7-on-7 scrimmage Tuesday and will be replaced by FC Gold Pride goalkeeper Nicole Barnhart, who was named a reserve.

Bardsley is the second Sky Blue goalkeeper to deal with an injury. Jenni Braham suffered a knee injury during the preseason and, despite being in rehab, is still weeks away from returning to the team.

Bardsley leads the league in goals against average (0.90) and shutouts (five in ten games) and was the league's Player of the Month in May.

Marta's XI, led by the Pride forward and coached by Pride coach Albertin Montoya, will face Abby's XI, led by Washington Freedom forward Abby Wambach and coached by Paul Riley of the expansion Philadelphia Independence in Wednesday's All-Star Game.
