Carey Talley led DC United Saturday to their second win of the 2010 Major League Soccer season on a unusual 92nd minute penalty kick situation in a 3-2 victory over Chivas USA Saturday at RFK Stadium.
Talley beat defender Dario Delgado for the shot, as Chivas was forced to put Delgado at goalkeeper after officials ejected goalkeeper Zach Thornton and, since they had used all their substitutions for the game, Delgado had to fill the void in the net.
Andy Najar (26th minute) and Adam O'Brien (76th minute) helped DC snap a three-game losing streak with the final score. United has lost eight of their last nine games this season and were shut out in seven of the losses before Saturday.
For Chivas, it was their fourth straight loss during their sixth game of May 2010.
DC, 2-8-0 with six points and the worst record in the Eastern Conference and the league, hosts the defending league champion Real Salt Lake next Saturday.
Chivas is 3-7-1 with 10 points and in last place in the Western Conference. They will travel to Red Bull Arena in Harrison, NJ Saturday to face the New York Red Bulls.
