Fire Gains First Point For New Head Coach In Draw To Rapids

Brian McBride's penalty kick in the 51st minute caused the Chicago Fire to play to a 2-2 draw against the host Colorado Rapids in Major League Soccer play Saturday at Dick's Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, CO.

The Rapids struck first as Omar Cummings scored 13 minutes into the game, but Collins John countered with a goal in the 26th minute.

Conor Casey netted his first goal of the season for Colorado in the 41st minute to give the Rapids the 2-1 halftime lead before McBride's score knotted the draw.

Chicago ended its first point of the season for new head coach Carlos de los Cobos.

Both teams play next Saturday -- Chicago hosting the San Jose Earthquakes, Colorado traveling to the Kansas City Wizards.
