Major League Soccer's Kansas City Wizards announced the signing Thursday of the league's first player from India, national team forward Sunil Chheti.
He also is the second person in the country's history to play professionally in another country.
Released last week by Dempo SC in India's I League, Chheti will become Kansas City's seventh international player on their roster.
In 35 games for India's men's national team, Chheti has 16 goals.
