US Women Defeat Mexico In First Of Two-Game Series

Amy Rodriguez, Shannon Boxx and Lauren Cheney scored goals as the world's number one-ranked US Women's National Team shut out Mexico 3-0 Sunday at Torero Stadium at the University of San Diego in the first of a two-game friendly series.

The win expanded their record against Mexican teams to 23-0-1 with the draw coming in 2007.

Also in the game, Kristine Lilly became the first US women's soccer player who has played on four different decades when she entered the contest in the 32nd minute.

She also appeared in her 343rd international match, most of any US player, and is second all-time on the team in goals with 159 behind Mia Hamm's 158.

The two teams will meet again Wednesday at Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy, UT.
