The Chicago Red Eleven of the United Soccer Leagues W-League, the official affiliate to the Chicago Red Stars in Women's Professional Soccer, announced the signing Friday of University of Texas sophomore goalkeeper and US U-20 Women's National Team pool player Alexa Goul.
Goul finished fifth in the Big 12 Conference in shutouts with four and seventh in saves with 61 last season.
She only played one year of high school soccer -- during her senior season at Neuqua Valley High School in Napierville, IL -- and led them to a 17-win season. Goul only allowed six goals that season.
Despite the lack of playing experience, she was named an All-American, an ESPNRise.com First Team All-American, Player of the Year by The Napierville Sun, a Top 11 All-State player by the Chicago Tribune and the Chicago Sun-Times, and was chosen The Southtown Daily Herald's All-Area First Team selection.
