Major League Soccer's all-time leading scorer, Jaime Moreno, scored the lone goal of the game Wednesday as DC United went 2-0-0 in the seventh annual Carolina Challenge Cup preseason tournament at Blackbaud Stadium in Charleston, SC with a 1-0 victory over fellow MLS foe Toronto FC.
United has six points in the four-team, round-robin competition hosted by the Charleston Battery of the United Soccer Leagues Second Division, who have never won the tournament in its history. The host Battery are not expected to challenge for the title this season as they are tied with Toronto with records of 0-1-1 with one point and one game left to play. Defending MLS champion Real Salt Lake is 2-1-0 with three points.
On the final matchday Saturday, RSL takes on Toronto and the Battery face United.
