RailHawks Add Porter, Bader As Assistant Coaches

Head coach Martin Rennie of the Carolina RailHawks of the USSF Division II Pro League announced the hirings Monday of assistant coaches Carson Porter and Dewan Bader.

Porter, who will work with the team's forwards, was an assistant coach at Wake Forest from 2004 to 2009 and led the Demon Deacons to three straight Atlantic Coast Conference championships and three appearances at the NCAA College Cup tournament, including a 2007 national championship crown.

In 2008, he was named the National Soccer Coaches Association of America National Assistant Coach of the Year and Southern Region Coach of the Year. College Soccer News named Porter the 2007 Assistant Coach of the Year.

A player at ACC rival North Carolina from 1997 to 2000, he led the Tar Heels to the 2000 ACC championship.

He also serves as the technical director for the NC-based Capital Area Soccer League.

Bader, who will work with midfielders, played at North Carolina State from 1989 to 1993 and led the Wolfpack to the 1990 ACC title and an appearance in the NCAA College Cup.

After playing professionally both outdoors and indoors until 2004, he became head coach of the Cary RailHawks U23 in the United Soccer Leagues Premier Development League in 2008, posting a 7-6-3 record.

Last season, as the rebranded Cary Clarets, the franchise went 9-4-3 in the regular season and advanced to the semifinal round of the PDL playoffs, losing 2-1 in overtime to the Chicago Fire Premier.

He also played for the US National Futsal Team from 2000 to 2004.
