The NSC Minnesota Stars of the USSF Division II Pro League announced the signings Thursday of goalkeepers Louis Crayton and Joe Warren and midfielder Simone Bracalello.
Crayton, a native of Liberia, was released by Major League Soccer's DC United in 2008 after 18 games following injuring his hip.
Before joining MLS, he played for eight teams over 11 seasons in Switzerland and began his career with the St. Joseph Warriors in Liberia.
He retired from international competition with his country's national team in 2008 after making 36 appearances over nine years.
Warren will be coming out of retirement to join the Stars, who was been training with for some time.
He retired from the United Soccer Leagues First Division's Minnesota Thunder in 2007 as their longest-tenured player in history and had spent several seasons as an assistant coach at St. Olaf College in Minnesota.
Bracalello, a native of Genoa, Italy, played in the youth systems of UC Sampdoria, FC Sestrese Calcio and Sarona 1907 FC before debuted with Sarona in the 2002-03 season, where he played one game in Italy's fourth division Serie C2 league.
He would later train with Calcio Como in Italy's second division and played for the club's Primavera team, which competed against other U-20 teams from Italy's top two divisions.
Bracalello had three goals and six assists in 23 games for AC Preto in the 2007-08 Serie C2 season.
He also trained in Australia's A-League with the Newcastle Jets and Pescara in Italy's Series C1.
The Stars also announced they will play three preseason games, beginning this Saturday in Faribault, MN against Shattuck-St. Mary's.
On March 27 at Parade Stadium in Minneapolis, they will face the Marquette Univerity Golden Eagles, then, on April 4, will play back-to-back exhibition games against Creghton University and AC St. Louis, also in USSF-D2, at Creighton in Omaha, NB.
