Joel Lindpere scored the first goal in the history of the new home for Major League Soccer's New York Red Bulls in a 3-1 victory over Brazil's Santos Laguna Saturday at a sold-out Red Bull Arena in Harrison, NJ.
The $200 million stadium was set to open for the 2009 season but construction and weather delays pushed the opening back a season.
Mike Pelke and Dane Richards also scored in the victory.
New York plays its first league game there next Saturday against the Chicago Fire.
