Dirk Kuyt scored a penalty kick goal in the 40th minute and Klaas-Jan Hunterlaar hit the game-winning shot in the 73rd minute as the Netherlands, ranked third in the latest FIFA/Coca-Cola World Soccer Rankings, released Wednesday, defeated the US Men's National Team 2-1 in an international friendly at Amsterdam Arena.
The US, who fell in the new poll from 14th to 18th, got their only goal in the 85th minute when Carlos Bocanegra headed a corner kick from DeMarcus Beasley.
The Americans, now 1-2 in the preparation for the 2010 FIFA World Cup in June, have lost their last five games played in Europe and are 4-19-3 in the continent since April 1998. Three of those four wins came against Poland with the fourth against Switzerland.
Netherlands is 4-0 against the US, but Bocanegra's goal was the first they've allowed in the series. They continue to outscore the US team, though, 7-1.
This was the last game before USMNT head coach Bob Bradley must announce his roster for the team's sixth straight trip to the World Cup.
