Martinez Hat Trick Gives La Raza Win Over Rampage

Genoni Martinez had an eight-point hat trick, which included a pair of three-point goals, as La Raza de Monterrey, headed to the Major Indoor Soccer League playoffs this weekend against the Baltimore Blast, defeated the Rockford Rampage 18-11 Sunday at Arena Monterrey.

Mark Ughy had a pair of two-point goals, Victor Quiroz had four points on a standard goal and two assists, and Armando Teran and Byron Alvarez each posted a goal as Monterrey finished the MISL regular season with an even 10-10 record.

For the Rampage, who went from one time leading the league to finishing in last place at 7-13, Bato Radoncic had four points on two goals, Fred DeGand fired off a three-pointer and Chris Brisson and Jamar Beasley each had a goal.

Monterrey will open the league's two-game, aggregate-score semifinal playoff series Friday at home against the Blast with the reverse taking place next Monday at First Mariner Arena.

Should the aggregate score be tied after next Monday's game, a Golden Goal tiebreaker will decide who will face the regular season league champion Milwaukee Wave April 4 at US Cellular Arena for the one-game league championship.
