The defending United Soccer Leagues Second Division champion Richmond Kickers signed four players Monday who all attended the franchise's winter combine.
Charlie Porter played every game in his college career at Davidson and was sixth nationally last season in points per game (1.78), eighth in goals per game (0.67), 29th in assists per game (0.44). He was named the team's MVP by his teammates that season.
He was selected to the Southern Conference Player of the Year award, given by coaches, the First Team All-Southern Conference player, the National Soccer Coaches Association of America All-South Region Team, and the North Carolina College Sports Information Association's All-State team.
Stephen Nsekero graduated from Winthrop and is a member of Uganda's national team. A three-time All-Big South First Team and 2006 conference Freshman of the Year, he had five goals and 19 assists for 29 points in 69 games over four seasons.
David Hertel began his soccer career with the amateur Michigan Bucks in the USL Premier Development League, scoring eight goals and two assists over all 16 regular season games in 2009 and was named to the PDL All-League First Team.
Hertel led Michigan State to the 2010 Big Ten regular season and conference titles. He made his professional debut in April 2009, when he played against the Kickers with the USL2's Real Maryland Monarchs.
His rights were claimed by Real Salt Lake for most of 2010, but Hertel would return to East Lansing, MI to finish out his classes toward graduating.
