The Harris County-Houston Sports Authority agreed Thursday to take a role in the creation of a new stadium in downtown Houston that will become the new home for Major League Soccer's Houston Dynamo as well as the Texas Southern University football team, according to The Houston Chronicle.
Recently, the city of Houston and Harris County, along with the Dynamo, agreed to spend $60 million on a new stadium with the city and county pitching in $10 million each and the Dynamo the rest.
The authority will now negotiate a lease with the Dynamo, oversee construction of the stadium and serve as the landlord.
The Dynamo currently play at Robertson Stadium on the University of Houston campus but could be in a new home by the 2012 MLS season.
