Midfielder Stuart Holden of the US Men's National Team will miss the next six weeks after suffering a broken leg in Wednesday's 2-1 loss to the Netherlands, the team announced Thursday.
Holden was seriously injured after taking a hard tackle by Nigel DeJong and limped off the field under his own power.
The former member of Major League Soccer's Houston Dynamo, who became a free agent when his contract was not renewed, has been playing with the Bolton Wanderers of the English Premier League since his release.
Holden is expected to recover in time to return to his EPL team and could be considered for a spot on head coach Bob Bradley's roster for the US team at the FIFA World Cup in June.
