Forward David Beckham of Major League Soccer's Los Angeles Galaxy, AC Milan in Serie A of Italy and the national team of England, underwent successful surgery Monday in Turku, Finland to repair a completely torn left Achilles tendon suffered Sunday in a 1-0 win by AC Milan over Chievo Verona, according to FoxSoccer.com.
The injury has ended any possibility of Beckham competing not only for England in the upcoming 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, but the 2010 MLS season, provided there even is a season.
Dr. Sakari Orava, who conducted the surgery said Beckham must take it easy for at least a month before starting any recuperation program and can't put much strain on his left foor for two to three months.
Orava also said it will take four months of healing time before he can run again and two more months after that before being cleared to play again.
