Dynamo Sign Jamaican M Lovel Palmer

Major League Soccer's Houston Dynamo announced the signing Friday of midfielder Lovel Palmer, who joins the franchise from Harbour View in Jamaica, who he led as captain to a first place tie in their professional league with three games left in the 2009-10 season.

Palmer has been with the team since being a teenager and has worn the captain's armband since August 2005 when he was 21.

He has played 12 times for Jamaica's men's national team, last doing so February 10 when he scored their lone goal in a 2-1 loss to Argentina.

Palmer spent two one-week tryout periods with the Dynamo -- the first February 22-27 at the inaugural Walt Disney World Pro Soccer Classic in Lake Buena Vista, FL, where he scored a goal in a game against fellow MLS foe FC Dallas; and the week of March 7, where he played in preseason games against the Austin Aztex of the USSF Division II Pro League (March 7) and MLS' Chicago Fire (March 11).
