Dempsey Returns To Fulham, But Team Loses Opening Leg To Juventus

US Men's National Team defender Clint Dempsey made his return to the pitch for Fulham of the English Premier League Thursday in a 3-1 loss to Italy's Juventus in the first game of a two-game, aggregate-goal, third round series in the Europa League at Turin, Italy.

Dempsey replaced Simon Davies in the 61st minute, his first action since injuring a right knee against Blackburn in EPL play January 17.

He has scored 17 goals in 60 games for the USMNT, but has scored seven goals for Fulham, six coming in the EPL.

The second leg of the series in next Thursday in Craven Cottage, England.
