Player-head coach Don D'Ambra scored a game-tying goal and newcomer Semir Mesanovic hit the game-winning shot at the 5:34 mark of overtime as the Philadelphia Kixx defeated the Baltimore Blast 8-6 Saturday in Major Indoor Soccer League play at First Mariner Arena in Baltimore.
Adauto Neto also posted a two-point goal for the Kixx, who maintain a slight chance at a playoff berth with one weekend left in the regular season. Philadelphia, in fourth place at 7-9, is a game behind La Raza de Monterrey (9-9) for the third and final playoff spot.
Mike Lookingland, Machel Millwood and Pat Healey scored for Baltimore, who, despite the loss, clinched second place in the league standings at 11-8 and will play the third place team in a two-game, aggregate-score playoff to earn a spot in the championship game.
The Milwaukee Wave (11-6) are close to clinching the regular season title and hosting duties for the MISL Championship Game, which would be held April 4 at US Cellular Arena.
Both Baltimore and Philadelphia close out the league's regular season schedule with a game next Sunday at Temple University's Liacouras Center.
Before then, Philadelphia welcomes the last-place Rockford Rampage to town.
