The city of Houston and Harris County, TX are set to vote in the next few weeks on the possibility of Major League Soccer's Houston Dynamo to get a new soccer-specific stadium by 2012.
Under the deal, the Dynamo would pay $60 million of the cost of the new stadium, which would be located in the downtown area, with the city and county each paying $20 million.
If the measure passes the city council March 31 and the county commissioners April 13, construction on the new facility would begin October 1 and be completed in time for the 2012 season.
The Dynamo, two-time, back-to-back MLS Cup Champions, had the fourth best home attendance in the league in '09 at over 17,000 fans per regular season game.
