Major League Soccer's Colorado Rapids re-signed forward Conor Casey Thursday to a three-year contract extension.
In his third season with the team in 2009, he was named to the league's All-Star team and Best XI postseason team, as well as finished second in the Budweiser Golden Boot race with 16 goals, one behind champion Jeff Cunningham of FC Dallas with 17. Casey's goals did set a team single-season record.
In three seasons, Casey has scored 29 goals and six assists in 62 career games, starting 51 of them.
Casey also has made 20 appearances for the US Men's National Team, scoring two goals, but those goals were the only ones needed to clinch a 2010 FIFA World Cup berth from CONCACAF in a 2-0 win in October 2009 against Honduras in the final qualifying round.
