Machel Millwood and Max Ferdinand each has a pair of two-point goals as the host Baltimore Blast got past La Raza de Monterrey 12-11 Saturday at First Mariner Arena as teams come down to the homestretch in the Major Indoor Soccer League standings.
The game was a physical contest that saw both team's goalkeepers -- Sagu for the Blast and Jose Bontti for Monterrey -- ejected from the game, as well as Monterrey's trainer, along with two missed penalty kicks and eight power plays set in motion.
Adrian Bumbut and Rod Dyachenko added goals for the Blast, now at 10-7 and a half-game behind the Milwaukee Wave (10-6) in the standings. Baltimore ends their home season Friday against the Rockford Rampage.
Victor Quiroz led Monterrey with four points, but they are now 9-7, 1 1/2 games behind the Wave and travel to the Liacouras Center at Temple University Sunday to face the Philadelphia Kixx.
The revived MISL's first regular season ends March 21 and the regular season champion will receive an automatic berth in the league championship game, which they will host. The second and third place teams will play in a two-game, aggregate-goal series to determine the opponent in the final game.
