The Austin Aztex of the USSF Division 2 Pro League Tuesday announced forward Maxwell Griffin, brother of defender Leonard Griffin, signed a one-year contract with two option years.
Griffin, a two-time Offensive Most Valuable Player at UCLA, as well as their all-time leading goal scorer with 28 goals, was one of 18 players in Bruins history to score a hat trick.
He played in the 2006 and 2008 United Soccer Leagues Premier Development League seasons for the San Fernando Valley Quakes and the 2009 PDL season with the Los Angeles Legends.
In 25 combined games over the two franchises, he has three goals and two assists.
The Aztex also released forward Leonel Saint-Preaux and goalkeeper Ben Dragavon after failing team physicals due to pre-existing medical conditions.
