The expansion Atlanta Beat will be the host franchise for Women's Professional Soccer's second annual All-Star Game presented by the US Coast Guard June 30 at their new stadium in Kennesaw, GA.
The game, which will be televised live by Fox Soccer Channel, will have some major changes take place from the inaugural event.
First, the WPS All-Star Game has been moved to the midseason from the postseason to be more in line with the dates of other all-star games in the sport.
Second, the field for the game will be selected in a different manner.
36 players will be named to a pool -- 22 through voting by fans, players. team owners and media, 14 by WPS Commissioner Tonya Antonucci and the game's coaches. Online voting for fans will take place starting in May with ballots going out to the rest in June.
All 36 players will then head to Atlanta and the All-Star team's head coach and captains will select the Starting XI in a "playground pick-em"-style public event June 7.
