The Vancouver Whitecaps of the North American Soccer League announced the signing Tuesday of free agent defender/midfielder Blake Wagner to a one-year contract with an option for 2011 and that they have waived 2010 options on defender/midfielder Mason Trafford and midfielder Gordon Chin.
Wagner spent the last four seasons with Major League Soccer's FC Dallas, where he started 32 of 40 games and played 2,947 minutes.
A second round pick in the 2006 MLS SuperDraft as a Generation adidas player, Wagner started eight of 15 games he appeared in last season and played 789 minutes.
Trafford, who joined the team midway through the 2008 season, appeared in 17 combined regular season and playoff games, playing 750 minutes. He had two assists in 29 games for Vancouver in 2009.
Chin ends his second stint with the Whitecaps -- his first in the 2003 United Soccer Leagues First Division season -- after playing in 14 games in 2009. In 28 overall games, he scored one goal and assisted on five others.
