Sockers Magic Number Is 1: Cougars See Win Streak Snapped At 5

Chiky Luna had a hat trick to lead the San Diego Sockers to an 11-10 victory over the defending Professional Arena Soccer League champion California Cougars in action Thursday at Stockton Arena.

The Sockers have the best record in the league at 11-1 and now have a magic number of one to clinch the league's Western Division crown.

Both teams meet again February 13 in Stockton, but the Sockers could claim the division title if the Cougars lose a home game February 6 against Revolucion Tijuana.

For the Cougars (9-4), the loss snapped a five-game winning streak and it was the third time they've lost to the Sockers this season, doing so in each game by a goal.

Brian Farber and Uriel Robledo each had hat tricks for the Cougars in the loss.
