Fire Finds New Head Coach In De Los Cobos

On Monday, Major League Soccer's Chicago Fire will name former Mexican League player and El Salvador men's national team coach Carlos de los Cobos as the franchise's fifth head coach, according to Friday's Chicago Southtown Star.

He would replace Denis Hamlett, who did not receive a contract extension after serving for two seasons in the position and left the franchise by mutual agreement in November.

De los Cobos played in the late 1980s and early 1990s for Club America and Monterrey and had 25 appearances with the Mexican national team.

He resigned as El Salvador's head coach after he failed to get them qualified to compete at the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
