Rod Dyachenko and Ricardo Sanchez each had a goal and an assist as the Minnesota Thunder continue their role as spoiler in the race for a possible United Soccer Leagues First Division playoff spot by beating the playoff-bound Puerto Rico Islanders, 5-2, Thursday at the National Soccer Center in Blaine, MN.
Marco Terminesi, Kevin Friedland and Brian Cvilikas added goals for Minnesota, who, at 7-12-9 with 30 points are in eighth place in the league standings, six points behind the defending league champion Vancouver Whitecaps (9-10-9, 36) for the seventh and final playoff spot. The Thunder travel to Saputo Stadium Sunday to face the Montreal Impact.
Fabrice Noel and Josh Hansen scored goals for the Islanders, in second place in the standings at 14-6-8 with 50 points, five behind the league-leading Portland Timbers. Puerto Rico takes on another playoff-bound team, the Carolina RailHawks, on the road Saturday.
