Sounders Win Lamar Hunt US Open Cup Over Defending Champion DC United

Fredy Montero had an unassisted goal in the 67th minute and Sebastien Le Toux assisted Roger Levesque on a 86th minute play as the Seattle Sounders became the first Major League Soccer expansion team since the Chicago Fire in 1988 to win the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup in their first professional season by defeating the defending champion DC United, 2-1, Wednesday at RFK Stadium.

Clyde Simms was assisted by Rodney Wallace on United's lone goal in the 89th minute.
