The semi-professional Premier Arena Soccer League Saturday announced WECMRD Freedom FC, based in Edwards, CO, will join the league's 2009-10 season as an expansion team.
The team is owned by the Western Eagle County Metropolitan Recreation Department.
Brandt Marott was named the team's head coach and will also serve as the director of the new Freedom Soccer Academy.
Marott played professionally for the Anaheim Splash in the Continental Indoor Soccer League (1995-97) and the Milwaukee Wave of the National Professional Soccer League (1998) and semi-professionally for the Chicago Stingers of the United Soccer Leagues D-3 Pro League, now known as the Premier Development League (1999). He won championships with the Wave and Stingers before retiring in 1999.
Lee Jones and Corey Bruce will be Marott's assistant coaches.
