USL2 Names All-League Players, Postseason Award Nominees

The United Soccer Leagues announced Monday the members of the 2009 season First Team and Second Team All-League stars from the Second Division, as well as announced the nominees for its three major postseason awards -- Most Valuable Player, Defender of the Year and Coach of the Year.

Those awards will be handed out Friday at the league's annual Championship Banquet.

Here are the selected players:

USL2 ALL-LEAGUE FIRST TEAM

GOALKEEPER
Ronnie Pascale, Richmond Kickers
- named Goalkeeper of the Year
- lost to Chase Harrison of Harrisburg for GAA Championship, but led league in wins with 11 and tied Harrison for most shutouts with eight
- two-time winner; last won in 2006

DEFENDERS
Dustin Bixler, Harrisburg City Islanders
- named to Second Team in 2008
- played 1,161 minutes this season

John Borrajo, Real Maryland Monarchs
- played in every minute of every game this season

Shintaro Harada, Crystal Palace Baltimore
- second time on First Team
- played in all 20 games this season

Yomby William, Richmond Kickers
- played in 18 games this season

MIDFIELDERS
Tiyi Shipalane, Harrisburg City Islanders
- played three previous seasons in Premier Development League with Michigan Bucks
- named 2009 USL2 Rookie of the Year
- had six goals and six assists before being loaned to MLS' DC United for rest of season

Kenny Bundy, Wilmington Hammerheads
- fourth season with team
- four goals and nine assists in 20 games this season
- was named to USL2 All-Second Team in 2004

Mike Burke, Richmond Kickers
- third straight year on All-First Team
- three goals, seven assists in 2009

Jorge Herrera, Charlotte Eagles
- second straight season on All-First Team
- six goals, six assists in 2009 for team

FORWARDS
Matthew Delicate, Richmond Kickers
- Goal Scoring Champion in 2009 with 13
- finished second in Scoring Champions race with 28 points (13 goals, two assists)

Jamie Watson, Wilmington Hammerheads
- Scoring Champion in 2009 with 12 goals and six assists (30 points)
