United Soccer Leagues Thursday announced the four winners of statistical awards for the 2009 USL Second Division season, and, for the first time since 2001, the same player was not named both Goal Scoring and Scoring Champion.
Matthew Delicate of the Richmond Kickers won the Goal Scoring Championship on the final day of the regular season with 13 to beat Jamie Watson of the regular season champion Wilmington Hammerheads, who came close to keeping the double-award swing going another season.
Watson would, however, win the Scoring Championship with 30 points in 12 goals and six assists.
Wilmington teammate Kenny Bundy won the Assist Leader crown with nine this season.
Finally, Harrisburg City Islanders goalkeeper Chase Harrison won the Goals Against Average Championship with a 0.182 average in 16 games. He finished the season 8-4-4 with all the wins coming in shutouts.
The league will announce more postseason awards Monday.
