Dwayne De Rosario scored a goal in his fourth straight game and O'Brian White, the fourth overall pick in the 2009 Major League Soccer SuperDraft, contributed his first professional goal in his fourth overall game as Toronto FC shut out DC United, 2-0, Saturday at BMO Field in Toronto to move currently into third place in the Eastern Conference standings, pending later action.
De Rosario had his team-leading ninth goal of the season in the 30th minute off assists from Sam Cronin and Jim Brennan. It is the third time in his career he has scored nine goals and the first time since he had 11 while playing for the Houston Dynamo in the 2006 season.
White was assisted by Nana Attakora and Amado Guevara on his goal in the 66th minute.
Toronto is 8-7-6 with 30 points, two points ahead of United, in fourth place in the standings (6-5-10, 28), is two points behind the Chicago Fire for second (8-4-8, 32) and six behind the defending league champion Columbus Crew for first (9-3-9, 36).
Toronto travels to The Home Depot Center next Saturdayto face Chivas USA.
United, meanwhile, opens Group B play in the 2009-10 CONCACAF Champions League Tuesday in Honduras against CD Marathon, then hosts the Los Angeles Galaxy next Saturday.
