Timbers Shutout Impact For 21st Straight Unbeaten Game

Kevin Forrest assisted Ryan Pore in the 83rd minute on his fourth goal in his last four games Wednesday as the Portland Timbers took over first place in the United Soccer Leagues First Division standings with a 1-0 win over the host Montreal Impact at Saputo Stadium.

The Timbers are now 12-1-9 with 45 points and lead the Charleston Battery by one point in the standings. The win was also extended their league-record unbeaten streak to 21 games. Portland travels next to Marina Auto Stadium in Rochester, NY to meet the Rochester Rhinos Saturday.

Montreal is in sixth place in the standings at 7-9-5 with 26 points and face the defending regular season champion Puerto Rico Islanders Saturday in Bayamon, Puerto Rico.
