Forward Marta of the regular season champion Los Angeles Sol won two awards as Women's Professional Soccer held their inaugural WPS Postseason Awards Saturday in St. Louis, MO, host to the league's first All-Star Game Sunday against Swedish champion Umea IK.
Marta was named the winner of the PUMA Golden Boot and the Michelle Akers Player of the Year awards and the Sol's head coach, Abner Rogers, who also served as coach for the WPS All-Stars, was named by his fellow coaches the Advocare Coach of the Year.
In other awards, Amy LePeilbet of the Boston Breakers was named the MedImmune Defender of the Year, Hope Solo of the St. Louis Athletica was named the Coast Guard Goalkeeper of the Year and player/head coach Christie Rampone of the league champion Sky Blue FC was named the Hint Water Sportswoman of the Year.
