Sky's The Limit; Upset Sol To Become WPS Champions

Heather O'Reilly scored in the 17th minute off a Natasha Kai assist as Sky Blue FC pulled off the upset and became the first champion of Women's Professional Soccer in a 1-0 victory over the runaway regular season champion Los Angeles Sol Saturday at the WPS Championship Game presented by MedImmune at The Home Depot Center in Carson, CA.

Sky Blue, who finished the regular season earning the fourth seed in the inaugural stepladder playoff format on the final day of the season, defeated the Washington Freedom (opening round) and the St. Louis Athletica (Super Semifinal) on the road to make it to the final game.

With the playoff wins, Sky Blue finishes with an overall record of 10-8-5. The Sol complete their season with a 12-4-5 mark.
