Sky Blue Shuts Out Pride; Possible Playoff Spot Awaits

Rosana and Natasha Kai contributed goals for host Sky Blue FC in a 2-0 shutout of FC Gold Pride Wednesday in Women's Professional Soccer play from Rutgers University.

Heather O'Reilly assisted Rosana on her 46th minute goal and Collette McCallum did so on Kai's 61st minute point.

Sky Blue is now tied with the Washington Freedom for third place in the league standings at 7-7-5 with 26 points. Both teams meet in their final game of the regular season Saturday at Maryland SoccerPlex in Boyds, MD with a WPS playoff spot hanging in the balance.

However, one other team, the Boston Breakers (7-8-4, 25) could deny one of them a playoff berth, depending on the results of their season finale Sunday against the regular season champion Los Angeles Sol at Harvard University.

The Pride have the worst record in the WPS' inaugural season at 4-10-5 and 17 points and host the St. Louis Athletica, who clinched a second place finish in the league standings and will host the Super Semifinal game August 19 at Anheuser-Busch Park in Fenton, MO.
